TEMPERATURE IN THE SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS
WILL DROP TO 18 DEGREES BELOW ZERO THIS WEEKEND

A new frost season starts this Saturday, September 1st at dawn, until Monday, September 3th. The National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi) explained that there will be cold and very cold nights in the southern highlands, with temperature drops that will reach 18 degrees below zero.
The most significant temperature drops will occur during the early hours of Sunday, September 2nd. Likewise, clear skies will be present during the day.
Forty provinces in eight regions of the southern highlands will be affected. Mainly in areas located higher than 4,000 meters above sea level in the Tacna, Moquegua and southern Puno regions.
They have been already alerted by the authorities.
In Cusco: Canas, Chumbivilcas and Espinar.
In Huancavelica: Angaraes, Castrovirreyna, Huancavelica and Huaytará
In Moquegua: General Sánchez Cerro and Mariscal Nieto
In Puno: Azángaro, Chucuito, El Collao, Huancané, Lampa, Melgar, Moho, Puno, San Román and Yunguyo
In Tacna: Candarave, Jorge Basadre, Tacna and Tarata.
In Apurímac: Andahuaylas, Antabamba, Aymaraes, Cotabambas and Grau
In Arequipa: Arequipa, Castilla, Caylloma, Condesuyos and La Unión
In Ayacucho: Cangallo, Huanca Sancos, Lucanas, Parinacochas, Páucar del Sara Sara, Sucre and Víctor Fajardo.
Temperatures also dropped between August 22th and August 24th in the southern highlands, because of a frost. The lowest temperature expected was 19 degrees below zero. The most significant temperature drops occurred early Friday.
Previously, Petroperú employees distributed 1,500 blankets among the residents of three communities in the Pasco region, exactly in the communities of Cutan, Huay Huay and Chacacancha.
